Roxanne Musto (Select Board candidate) was unable to join and submitted the following statement in her absence:
Below is a statement that I have provided in advance of the SEPAC forum, as I am unable to attend due to a Select Board appointed committee forum that I have to attend. I want to share a bit about my experience and background, and touch on what I would have spoken about during tonight’s forum.
I am a lifelong Milton resident who has worked as a nurse and nurse practitioner for many years, and I currently work as a nurse practitioner caring for our elderly population.
In terms of service to the town, I serve as the Vice-Chair of the Select Board, a member of the Board of Health, and a long-time Town Meeting Member from Precinct 5. I have also served on numerous committees and organizations over the years, including the Warrant Committee. As a working mother of two children who also attended and graduated from the Milton Public Schools, I have been very involved in educational organizations in Milton as well.
All children deserve the opportunity to thrive. It is vital that we protect services for all students in the Milton Public Schools, especially those with special needs. Children in our schools who benefit from special education should have all of those tools necessary to help them to develop into their full potential. I’m grateful for the parents involved in SEPAC who advocate for those students. The collaboration and systems put in place for these students between parents and the school system is essential to these students’ success.
Thank you to all our Candidates and we remind all residents to please VOTE on Tuesday, April 29!
Hello and welcome to the Milton Special Education Parent Advisory Council (Milton SEPAC)!
In an effort to better support the families of Milton who have children with disabilities, our website shares links to essential services, state and federal laws, programs, meetings, and community events. Our goal is to improve communication and increase membership so that we may effectively advocate and advise the school district on special education issues, initiatives, and policies. Our vision is to have this site be a comprehensive resource; however, if you have any questions not addressed yet on this site, please contact us by email directly: miltonma.sepac@gmail.com.
Reasons to get involved with the Milton SEPAC:
You live in Milton and your child receives special education services.
You think your child may have some learning issues/differences that are not being addressed by their school.
You are learning about the special education process and want to understand your rights.
You want to learn more about the district’s special education programs and resources.
You want to connect with parents and families who share similar concerns, frustrations, and joys.
You want to share your knowledge and expertise with other parents and families.
You want to help the district’s schools find solutions for students receiving special education services.
